The 30th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act
Published July 27, 2020
By Marion M. Walsh, Esq., Littman Krooks LLP
This week marks 30 years since the passage of the ADA. The ADA means much more than building ramps and construction compliance. The law protects the rights not only of those who are born with a disability, but of those who develop a disability, whether a mental illness or chronic illness– any physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity. It includes those with invisible disabilities like depression or anxiety. It is complicated and takes funds, work and deep empathy to implement. The law represents a great civil rights tool to help protect the most vulnerable in our society and develop a more compassionate, enlightened country for all, as disability is part of the human condition. We work tirelessly to protect ADA and Section 504 rights and to develop solutions that work. Contact us here.
