Elder Care attorneys address long term care and estate planning needs of each individual based on his or her unique situation. Elder Care is the practice of specially-trained attorneys who can help you protect your assets in the event of illness and dispose of your assets upon your demise, with a minimum of taxes and problems.
How can Littman Krooks help me?
During your first consultation, a well-trained Certified Elder Care Attorney will provide you with highly trained staff, skilled in all areas of Elder Care, who will advise you regarding your unique circumstances. After extensive evaluation of your situation, our experienced attorneys will be able to offer suggestions and solutions and propose steps you should take to achieve your goals.
Planning for Long Term Care
Another important aspect of elder care is planning for long-term care. We can advise you and your family on all aspects of long-term care, including strategies to become eligible for government benefits while preserving some assets. Many seniors will need care in a skilled nursing facility, and the cost of such care is prohibitive for many families without taking advantage of Medicaid. Although there are income and asset limits for Medicaid eligibility, that does not mean that all your assets need to be exhausted. In this complex area of the law, there are planning strategies that can help you preserve assets while still taking advantage of Medicaid.
We can also help with guardianship matters. If it becomes necessary for a senior to have a guardian appointed, we can explain the guardianship process and prepare and file necessary petitions to the court.
Attorneys in each of our offices, New York City and White Plains, can assist with any of the following elder care matters:
- Elder Law
- Medicaid Planning
- Asset Protection
- Estate Litigation
- Estate Planning
- Estate Administration/Probate
- Healthcare Facility Representation
- Guardianship
